Fang the Bat Fiend is the third book in Series 6, The Amulet of Avantia. Fang is a menacing, winged Beast—a gargantuan bat or chiropteran creature—whose dark magic allows him to command sonic attacks, use echolocation, and attack from above in the darkness. Tom’s quest involves navigating a vast cave system or a nocturnal forest where Fang has the advantage of both flight and darkness. The challenge is overcoming the Beast’s sonic disruption and fighting a foe that is nearly impossible to track visually. Tom must use sound or light to turn the Beast’s own sensory strengths against it.
