The Parent Agency is a funny and imaginative children's fantasy novel. The protagonist, ten-year-old Barry Bennett, is convinced his parents are the worst in the world—they are too boring, too strict, and completely fail to understand him. Out of sheer frustration, Barry wishes for better parents. His wish is granted, and he is suddenly transported to a magical, bizarre place called The Parent Agency, where children get to choose new parents. Barry happily cycles through various idealized parents (movie stars, millionaires) only to realize that the "perfect" family is not what he truly needs, leading him on a quest to find the parents who are perfectly right for him.
