Big Top Flop is an entry in the Nancy Drew Clue Book series, aimed at younger readers. Nancy Drew, Bess, and George are enjoying a day at the circus, complete with clowns, acrobats, and elephants, when disaster strikes. The main event, a dazzling new trapeze act, is canceled because the performers' special, one-of-a-kind aerial silks have been mysteriously stolen, causing the entire show to be a "flop." Nancy and her friends jump into action, using their sharp eyes to look for clues backstage, interviewing the worried circus performers, and figuring out which member of the big top crew would want to stop the show and ruin the fun for everyone, restoring the joy to the circus.
