This is a mammoth adventure set in the heart of Victorian London. Elsie, a ten-year-old orphan, lives a hard life on the freezing, foggy streets, dreaming of escape and adventure. Her world is turned upside down when she reads a newspaper headline about a phenomenal discovery: a massive, 10,000-year-old Woolly Mammoth, perfectly preserved in a colossal block of ice, has been found in the remote Arctic and brought to the Natural History Museum in London. Determined to see this prehistoric marvel, Elsie sneaks into the museum, and through a chance, magical encounter, she comes face-to-face with the magnificent creature, whom she names Woolly. When sinister forces, including a ruthless explorer and the greedy museum director, plot to exploit the mammoth, Elsie knows she must save her new friend. This unlikely duo embarks on the adventure of a lifetime, setting off on a daring journey from the bustling, gas-lit streets of London all the way to the frozen wastes of the North Pole, all with the goal of getting Woolly back to his true home.
