This touching and hilarious story introduces Jack and his Grandpa, who was once a World War II flying ace, bravely piloting a Spitfire. Sadly, Grandpa is now struggling with Alzheimer's disease, and he often believes he is still back in the war, fighting the enemy in the sky. When his confused behaviour becomes too much for the family, Grandpa is reluctantly moved to an old people’s home called Twilight Towers. Jack immediately senses that something is terribly wrong at Twilight Towers, which is run by the truly evil and sinister Matron Swine. The place feels more like a prison than a home, and Matron Swine’s methods are utterly terrifying. It soon becomes clear that the only way to save Grandpa is to spring him out. Inspired by Grandpa's war stories, Jack and his grandfather meticulously plan a daring, death-defying escape. Their thrilling adventure culminates in Grandpa getting one last chance to relive his glorious past, taking to the skies in his beloved, full-sized Spitfire for one final, monumental flight of freedom.
