The Enchanted Wood is the first book in Enid Blyton's Faraway Tree series. The three children—Jo, Bessie, and Fanny—move to a new house near a mysterious wood. They discover the Enchanted Wood and within it, the massive Faraway Tree, whose highest branch is reached by a ladder leading to a new, constantly changing magical land. The book introduces the magical tree's inhabitants, like Moonface and Silky, and sets up the premise of their regular, whimsical adventures to new lands.
