Catching Fire is the second novel in Suzanne Collins's The Hunger Games trilogy. The story follows Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark as their victory in the 74th Hunger Games inadvertently sparks a rebellion across the districts of Panem. As punishment and a means to crush the uprising, President Snow forces them, along with other previous winners, to compete in the quarter quell—a special, more deadly edition of The Hunger Games. The novel focuses on the growing threat of the Capitol and the increasing political danger surrounding the reluctant heroes.
