This is based on the single 42-volume series' 22, which is VIZ Media's Dragon Ball Z, Vol. 6. The action shifts entirely to the distant Planet Namek, where Krillin, Gohan, and the increasingly desperate Vegeta are caught in a deadly confrontation with Freeza's henchmen. The heroes struggle fiercely to collect the Namekian Dragon Balls before the galactic tyrant can make his wish for immortality. This entry is defined by the arrival of Freeza's most terrifying subordinates: the elite mercenary Ginyu Force, a squad of absurdly powerful fighters who delight in their theatrical entrances and cruel methods. Vegeta, believing he has ascended beyond his limits, is shocked to find himself and his allies completely outclassed by the sheer power and coordinated tactics of this new enemy. The only hope lies in the imminent, yet uncertain, arrival of Goku, who is still traveling through space after undergoing intense training, leaving the Z Fighters to face certain annihilation on the barren, alien battlefield.
